I am a night person, and I hate mornings. So obviously, evenings are the best part of my day. I feel really energised in the evenings, and I do most of my writing then as well because I get really inspired.
My evenings aren’t necessarily exciting or glamorous. Most of the time, they’re the quiet ones.
The Little Details
- Getting up from my nap on my off days.
- Changing into comfortable clothes after a half day at work.
- Getting myself something warm to drink (because I donβt like making drinks or food for myself π).
- Watching a comfort show or movie, or anything else I want to watch.
- Reading, writing, or simply scrolling without rushing (I hate how addicting doom scrolling is).
- The room being quiet and cozy.
- Having the whole house to myself.
- Learning to draw.
- Taking a walk on my terrace (there are no parks nearby).
Just the tiny details that make the evening feel good.
Why You Love Them
These evenings matter to me. They’re the only time I truly slow down. They make me feel like myself again after spending the day being busy, productive, or surrounded by people.
I genuinely like being with myself. I like spending time alone, doing whatever I want, and evenings are when I get that time, especially after work or on my days off.
The Bigger Thought
We often think happiness has to come from big plans, travel, parties, or exciting experiences, when sometimes a peaceful evening can feel just as fulfilling. For me, I love how everything slows down once the evening comes. I feel relaxed and happy, and honestly, I don’t even realise where the time goes when I’m enjoying myself that much.
Closing
I think a good life isn’t made only of big moments. Maybe it’s also made of evenings where nothing extraordinary happens, but you still go to bed feeling content.
Maybe that’s why these are my favourite kind of evenings. There are no big plans, no pressure to make memories, and no need to be productive. Just a little time to slow down and enjoy my own company.
I think we often wait for happiness to arrive in big, exciting moments, but sometimes it quietly shows up on an ordinary evening, in comfortable clothes, with something familiar playing in the background. And honestly, I think those moments deserve to be appreciated too.
