“Her voice and aura that shines bright,
Through every storm and whispered night.
The Chaos in her eyes and calm in her words,
Under the moonlight, she danced like a swan, turning my thoughts into beautiful blurds.”
This is a poem I wrote when I was 15yrs old. My cousin (who was 2 months older than me) had a dairy, she would always write in it. She would hear a song and write in it, a quote, he thought and her everything that happened in her day. One day when I visited her home, she let me see her diary, (p.s. I wrote some of her quotes in my diary later 🤣), and I was in awe. I think ever since then I had an idea of wanting to be a writer someday.
So, when I wrote this poem, At the time, writing this poem felt impossible. Rhyming words, making sense of it all, and ensuring it didn’t sound like it was written by a teenager felt like an overwhelming challenge. I thought poetry are the most hardest things one can do.
And even today I think that poetry are the most hardest form of writing. But why does poetry seems so hard?
Let’s talk about it.
Poetry requires conveying your emotions and all the complex ideas in just a few words which can be really challenging. Specially for beginners.
Poems usually follow a specific pattern or style of writing. It follows a rhyme scheme or forms. Complying to maintain these structures while conveying your emotions is tricky. There is a precise and vivid language which is followed in poems. So finding words that sounds good and carry a deep meaning can be overwhelming.
A lack of inspiration often means feeling emotions but struggling to put them into words. It can be hard for people like me to express themselves in words
There is also a fear of judgement that can be there for new or beginners writers. For beginners, there’s often a fear of judgment—wondering if your poetry is ‘good enough,’ or if it might be dismissed as childish. I still struggle with this sometimes, even as I write this blog post😶.

But, poetry is just another creative process, like any other art form and it takes practice.
And remember “PRACTICE MAKES A MAN (or women. Or whatever gender you are) PERFECT”.
Allowing yourself the freedom to write without overthinking and experimenting with different styles can make the process easier and more enjoyable.
If you found this helpful, don’t let the difficulty of poetry stop you from writing. Embrace the process, and remember: every poet starts somewhere. If this post resonated with you, share it with a friend or drop a comment below!!
